This month’s upcoming comedy roster includes performances and standup from big names like Aziz Ansari and under-the-radar faves like Mary Mack. Here’s who to check out in March.
Nick Mullen at Lincoln Lodge
Co-host of the widely popular “Cum Town” podcast along with Stavros Halkias, Mullen’s comedy can be on the darker side, and certainly pushes the envelope. His podcast runs the gamut of sex advice, pop culture, stand-up comedy, politics and everything in between, and likewise so does his biting and hilarious material.

Rhea Butcher at Thalia Hall
Former Chicago resident and current Los Angeles dweller, Butcher returns to Chicago for a one-night-only appearance. She’s the co-host (along with her wife, Cameron Esposito) of the popular LA stand-up show and podcast “Put Your Hands Together,” which takes place weekly at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Butcher has also appeared on Conan, @test-email-midnight and co-starred in the show Take My Wife.

Aziz Ansari: Road to Nowhere Tour at Chicago Theatre
Perhaps most known for his character Tom Haverford on Parks and Recreation, Ansari’s current Netflix show Master of None has garnered rave reviews for its first two seasons. Aside from his comedic acting, he’s a seasoned veteran of the stand-up craft, having logged four one-hour specials over the last several years—an impressive number of specials especially given his age.

Adam Ruins Everything Presents: Mind Parasite Live With Adam Conover at Park West
In addition to being a veteran of stand-up and sketch comedy (he’s a founding member of the sketch group Olde English), Conover is the creator and host of the show Adam Ruins Everything on truTV, which just began its third season. The show, as well as his comedy, aims to dispel common misconceptions, as well as challenge audiences to think critically about the world around them.

Maria Bamford at The Den Theatre
Bamford is a longtime veteran comic that’s not only a cult-like favorite amongst audiences, but also a cult-like favorite amongst her fellow comedians. Throughout her career, she’s amassed several critically acclaimed specials and albums—appearances on television, movies and documentaries, and also starred in the Netflix original series Lady Dynamite, which is based on her life.

Mateo Lane at Lincoln Lodge
Another former Chicago native that’s currently skyrocketing to stardom, Lane has had appearances on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and Late Night With Seth Myers, as well as a handful of MTV shows, and most recently the Netflix original series, The Standups.

Mary Mack at @test-email-North Bar
Despite multiple appearances on Conan, as well as Last Comic Standing and voicing animated characters on several shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Mary Mack sort of flies under the mainstream comedy radar. Her quirky delivery and lovable persona make her a favorite at both clubs and alt-rooms around the country, so catching her at a small, intimate venue like @test-email-North Bar will certainly be a fun treat.
